Fright Night FAQs

Fright Night is Britain’s biggest Halloween Carnival, attracting up to 40,000 people each year!

Always staged on the Sunday before Halloween (Sunday 28th October 2012 - 3.30pm until 8.30pm), we close the roads in Sheffield City Centre around Fargate, Tudor Square, Barkers Pool, Peace Gardens, Surrey Street, Leopold Street, Orchard Square, Millennium Square & Winter Gardens for this ‘mass promenade’ event. Attractions for 2011 included a Giant Puppet, urban dance, the Titan Robot, Shopping Trolley Grannies, Fire Horse, Ghostbusters car, Dr Who Tardis and Dalek, a Scream Tent, a Giant Cycling Hippo, fancy dress catwalk, funfair rides/stalls, samba band, food stalls, children’s activities & craft stalls.  For updates and more information follow Yellow Bus Events on Facebook & Twitter.

Once again in 2011 we worked with Professor Vanessa Toulmin from the University of Sheffield who curated an installation of Zombies and a Dance Macabre in collaboration with The Sheffield Youth Orchestra and Hype Dance.

Each year we hook up with Sheffield Theatres who are stage a Sing Along A Rocky Horror Night in the Lyceum Theatre, so why not come to the event and then join in their fun at 7.30 pm. Check out www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk

Travel South Yorkshire are encouraging event goers to leave their cars at home and get to the event by bus, tram and train.

In addition to the main event we stage a "Fright Night's Little Brother" event on The Moor with loads of Halloween fun for younger children between 12 noon & 3pm.

The event is made possible with the support and help of Sheffield City Council, Travel South Yorkshire who are our Main Sponsors, Real Radio, The University of Sheffield, First Buses, Arts Council England, Integrated Youth Support Service, Sheffield Newspapers, City Centre Traders and many other partners.

NB The event is very busy and we do recommend that all children are accompanied by an adult.
